Historic West Virginia hotel/resort/Congressional fallout shelter debuts new casino

The historic Greenbrier hotel debuted its new underground ‘Monte Carlo‘ style casino.

The Huffingtonpost has some great shots of the celebrities walking the red carpet, but one thing missing is what else the Greenbrier has hidden underground.

The Cold War fallout “bunker” for all members of Congress is also located at the Greenbrier; it was decommissioned in the 1990s after a Washington Post article revealed its location (the bunker tour guides still seem like they hold a bit of a grudge against the Post).

One big tradition there is afternoon tea, which is held in the main lobby.  If it’s cold outside, try and snag a seat by the fireplace.
